The Art of Listening

Hello beautiful soul how are you?

How’s the new season progressing for you...starting to get busy achieving the goals you set out earlier in the year? Are the shoots of the seeds of ideas and goals you planted and germinated in the winter finally beginning to emerge and starting to grow and bloom?

Thank you everyone who came to my events last month. I really enjoyed sharing many beautiful conversations with you and also celebrating the Spring Equinox and the return of the light together. I loved telling you the story of Ostara and the white hare, a lovely and heartwarming story about the onset of spring, the magic of new life coming into forth and the power of unconditional love. I can't wait to share with you another story I have prepared for the Beltane Sound Bath Meditation on 2nd May!

It feels like a yesterday when I was writing about the onset of the spring and today as I was walking the in my local park and the wind blew the first flurry of cherry blossom. The spring is in the full swing  and so are our lives...my certainly is...Recently I have been progressing with my storytelling training and taking part in several training workshops. One of them was called - Storytelling for better world and we have done many exercises how to tell stories but what I have come to learn the most from the workshop was the art of listening. For in order to reinterpret the story we had to listen to it really carefully. Also during my other workshops we have had to work in sync to create the sound of a storm with our hands and feet . And in order to do that we had to really listen and concentrate on the sounds everyone lese was making. It was an an amazing and insightful exercise.

This week I have been digesting all the information I learned and I have been reflecting on the art of listening and how important it really is. And you might think it is absolutely normal and easy and we all have the ability to listen but let's face it how often do we REALLY LISTEN to each other or music or stories being told. Rarely. And I haven’t even started on listening to oneself, listening to the quiet little voice of our intuition, gut feeling…do you listen to it and if you do and hear what it says, do you carry it out and impalement it in your life ?

Well for me personally, I must admit, I have not always been a good listener in my daily life, although I do try to become better at it as I feel is very important, I can be distracted, day dreaming, busy thinking about the many things going on in my head. But I have always been very good at listening to the little inner voice and more so, implementing in my life what is says too.

Maybe it is part of being a an artist, following that creative vision.  I have more less always listen to it followed that gut feeling and it has brought many thing to my life quite often life changing events and openings. It is not always easy as sometimes that inner voice tells me to do thing I don’t necessary feel ready to do or too nervous or too scared. But over the years I have learnt that it pays off to listen and trust it.

Last month I have completed teaching Anyone Can Draw, 10 week beginners drawing course at Birchwood Art Studios. Now, I have never seen myself as teacher neither I was drawn to that path. I liked the path of creative community practitioner, which is quite fast paced and dynamic and different every time and i enjoyed that. Also I think I was always put of by all the admin work attached to teaching. But I felt drawn to the place, somehow it just felt right and I knew I could do it and it would make me very happy.

Some of the work of made by my talented students

And so one day I picked up the courage and when I was collecting my son from his art class I asked if they were any opportunities for teaching. I met the lady that runs the studio and we talked about the their outlook, my experience ect...and we both felt we were on the same page. Few weeks later an opportunity has opened up for me and I absolutely loved running the course. I really enjoyed getting to know the students watching them to developed their skills and grow in confidence in their ability to draw and create. And through the process I was also inspired to draw more too! Drawing is where I started all those years ago and by teaching others has reminded me how much I loved it.

And so by listening to that inner voice not only I found a source of extra income while doing something I love, I became inspired and excited to create myself and hopefully exhibit my own work this year.

I have many stories like that in my life…writing this blog is one of them too.

But why am I sharing with you? Listening intently to that inner voice and having courage implement what it says has changed and transformed my life in the way I never dared to imagine.

Over the years working with communities and others have become increasingly important for me. Many of you are on my mailing list now because you probably came to one of my Sound Bath Meditation events or worked with me in other ways. I have started to run these for I felt there is much need for us to reconnect with our inner voice in order to  find ourselves and discover what truly makes us happy and content and brings joy to our lives. But the way we live nowadays rarely allows us to do so…and we forgot how to find the connection, the voice, how to recognize it and how to learn to trust it.

The sound baths meditations and creativity teaches and enable us to listen and it does it so effortlessly, it almost trick one in to a different state of consciousness and in that place we find that inner voice. And the more we practice the easier gets to listen and to trust it.

So if you would like to developed the art of listening not only to sounds around us but to the sound inside of you, your inner voice, your intuition, your higher-self and if you would like some support with it I warmly invite you to join me for the events I will be holding over the next few weeks.
