PEASENHALL PRIMARY SCHOOL

Peasenhall were invited to join the group working towards the exhibition at Wingfield Barns. On a very sunny day in June, the children first studied the objects brought from Papua New Guinea, then they made their own artworks by collecting objects in the wooded area in front of their school. The objects collected (pieces of wood, feathers, etc) were then placed in a large vat of dye, made from woad, and left to turn blue. The objects quickly dried in the sun, and were gathered together to form a large circle. At the end of the day we shared stories, made music, and danced around the circle. The artist returned, just before the day of the exhibition, and helped the children build disks, which were then installed at Wingfield Barns.
